Can’t…Wait…Much…Longer!

     If the thought of a new season, a balanced lineup, a solid pitching staff, a healthy bullpen, the crack of a bat, the popping sound from a catcher’s mitt in the bullpen, the roars from the crowd, the smells of the stadium, the peanut shells at your feet, the baseball chatter with the guy next to you, the lunging after a foul ball, the celebration at the mound after a victory, and the love felt amongst fans as they watch their beloved South Siders rage towards the 2010 World Series, aren’t enough for you, then check this out…

     Goosebumps.  Nothing but goosebumps.

     The anticiaption is killing me.  The 2 weeks I am forced to wait until pitchers and catchers report is almost unfair.  I am ready for baseball and I am ready for it now.  I’m ready for springtime position battles, lineup shuffles, over-anxious rookies, confident veterans, 420 foot home runs, 92 mph fastballs, doubles down the line, sacrifice flies, squeeze bunts and, of course, Opening Day.

     I’m ready to muzzle  Tigers, eat Twinkies, dethrone Royals and scalp the Tribe.  I’m ready for an AL Central crown, a return to the playoffs, and a 2010 World Series Championship.  I’m ready for Ozzie’s antics, Pierre’s swipes, Quentin’s bombs and plenty of runs scored.  I’m ready for A.J.’s feistiness, Alexei’s rebound, and Gordon Beckham’s impending stardom.  I’m ready for some good ol’ fashioned, hardnosed White Sox baseball.

     The MLB Network is fun and all and I’m enjoying the start of the Caribbean World Series, but it’s just not enough.

     I’m ready for Major League Baseball and I’m ready for it NOW!
