White Sox pick up options on Garcia and Thornton
October 8th, 2009 | by kletus25 |The White Sox look to help there pitching rotation for 2010 by picking up the club options on pitchers Freddy Garcia and Scott Thornton. Both pitchers are 33 and both are looking to continue where the left off in 2009. Garcia grew stronger as the season progressed after he was brought back to the team on June 8th by way of a minor league deal. Garcia finished the year 3-4 with a 4.34 ERA and will be the number five starter for them in a rotation that includes Jake Peavy, Mark Buerhle, Gavin Floyd and John Danks. Thorton pitched 72 1/3 innings and will be a back up to closer Bobby Jenks if he struggles again like last season.
