White Sox end season on down note

October 7th, 2009 | by kletus25 |

The final game of the 2009 season for the White Sox did not end the way they would have liked it.  The White Sox fell in the final game of their season by a 5-3 count to the Detroit Tigers.  The loss helped the Tigers get into a one game playoff with the Minnesota Twins, a game that the Twins won by a score of 6-5 in 12 innings of great baseball. (Great baseball except for that call in the 10th inning by Chip Caray when he called that line drive that Rayburn caught a base hit.)

John Danks failed to get his 14th win of the season and ended with a final record of 13-11. The offense was shut down by Tigers ace Justin Verlander for the first seven innings.  The offense sparked in the eight when Ramon Castro had a RBI double and Brent Lillibridge had a two run single to cut the lead to 5-3, but could not come any closer.

The White Sox finished the season 79-83 and in third place in the AL Central.  A disappointment from making the playoffs as Central champs the year before.

I will keep up to datw with the going on of the team during the off-season and will keep you updated during the playoffs with all the goings on during the series as well.
